About Blaze

Caregiving hands you the hardest job you'll ever have — no training, no manual, no one to call at 2 a.m. — and expects you to just figure it out. The system you land in is fractured, buried in jargon, and built for people who already know what they need. Most of us don't. Not at first.

Today, over 63 million Americans are caregivers—a number that has surged by 50% over the last decade. Three in five of them are women. It is a physical, emotional, and financial reality often called the "Daughter Tax."

Members of the Sandwich Generation experience up to 40% more physical symptoms and 36% more emotional strain than their peers, frequently wearing up to 32 different hats at once—medical coordinator, taxi driver, financial manager, and grief counselor.

Blaze exists to make you the expert on your own terrain. Not by handing you more to read, more to manage, or one more tab to keep open — but by cutting straight to the next right step, in plain language, and staying with you across the whole thing.

You'll leave more capable, that's the whole promise. The expert was always you. We just mark the trail. Every resource, guide, and tool on this site is free for families — always.

The Founding Story: Kismet

We almost missed each other entirely. At an industry conference, no fewer than three people told Donny to track down Noelle, "the outgoing gal with the parrot earrings." Meanwhile, a few others were telling Noelle to go find Donny. Despite the crowd, we completely crossed paths without connecting.

When we finally jumped on a video call a few weeks later, Noelle called it immediately: "Kismet". (Donny actually had to look it up—it means fate, destiny, or meant to be).

As we talked about our visions for the end-of-life space, the pieces clicked perfectly. Donny was building from the field—accumulating hundreds of hospice volunteering hours and studying the clinical, emotional side of dying as a certified doula. Noelle was a world-class storyteller who had founded Legado to tackle the complex legal chore of estate planning.

With Legado acquired and integrated into the Blaze umbrella, we realized we could map the entire journey under one roof—merging rigorous product architecture with raw, honest, human-first storytelling. This is the second rodeo for both of us, and we are building for the millions of families navigating the field alongside us.

I am no stranger to death and grief. My dad died unexpectedly in a road accident when I was 16, changing my family's reality forever. Years later, watching my grandpa pass peacefully on hospice—and subsequently sitting vigil with my grandma in her final days—reshaped how I look at mortality. I stepped away from my career in data analytics, dove into over 300 hours of frontline hospice volunteering, and certified as an INELDA end-of-life doula. I built Blaze because I know exactly how terrifying it feels when the path forward vanishes.

My career has been built on one persistent challenge: how do you market something people would rather not think about? From credit card processing to disability insurance, I have spent years uncovering the human stories buried inside the products we naturally avoid. When my uncle passed away without a plan in place, that work became personal. I founded Legado to make estate planning feel less like a clinical legal chore and more like an intentional act of love. I wear the "deathtech" label proudly because breaking through that initial cultural friction is exactly the problem we have to fix.

Humanizing Complex Products

"We aren't building from a deck. We're building from the field. In a world with this much technology, there's no excuse for anyone to decode a broken caregiving system alone. We don't hand you more to carry — we make the system make sense, so what's left of your energy goes to the person you love, not the paperwork."
